We just returned from our 18th annual company retreat. Our entire company gets out of the office for two days to ask ourselves, “How can we serve our clients better next year?” We set goals – and have some fun too.
Some may ask, “why have a retreat,” especially during such a busy time in the construction industry here in Dallas. My answer would be that our retreats are the cornerstone of Purdy-McGuire’s mission and values. We set ourselves apart by the customer service we provide. And anyone who has studied customer service knows it takes every single person in the company focusing on the client to provide exceptional customer service. If only the company’s principals attended the retreat, we would make plans for the coming year without the input of 90% of those who have contact with our customers! Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I’ll forget, teach me and I’ll remember, INVOLVE me and I’ll understand.” By involving everyone, we return from the retreat focused and excited about the coming year.
And don’t forget about the fun! During this very busy time at work, the retreat gives us the opportunity to create some great memories outside the office. This improves relationships inside the office and at home because everyone is just a little less stressed at the end of the retreat.
With all these results, why NOT have a retreat??
